I can only agree with that so much. Everyone is acting like it's the total end of id, but in the end, it's up to them to decide if that's really the case or not. If they buy into what everyone is saying about them, then that's on them. This article gives me the sense that that's exactly what's happening, the guys there are buying into the fact that people are saying id and the PC are no more - submitting to all the gripes and whatnot - when it doesn't have to be that way.
Yeah, the start they got off to really couldn't be worse, and people are bashing them left and right, but what do you expect when something like this happens (do you seriously think console gamers would react any differently if they got a game this messed up?) There's still a chance to redeem themselves, and while it might not seem like it will do much now, people will remember it, especially if they approach it the right way (and as of right now, they're doing the EXACT opposite), and only after they do such a thing can they say that "the PC community is driving us away".
If they never do put forth the effort in fixing these problems, however, then it's them leaving the PC, not us driving them away.
