Will you be doing more gaming or more CAD work?

6970 is a good choice. I'd drop the SSD for a Crucial M4. I am not familiar with the PSU, but it overall looks good.

looking to move into more cad work in the future and just getting into illustrator/photoshop. not much of a gamer, but have the urge...! It will be online gaming as my kid lives a fair way away and this would be a good way to keep in touch!

From what I've seen, a higher end '' gaming '' GPU is usually more than enough for CAD work. We use Quadro FXs at work but it's not necessary imo. ( I have an old Quadro fx 2000 in my workstation and it handles everything I throw at it in terms of 3D cad etc, and it's a 128mb card ! )

The card you selected looks fine, I would change your HDD for a samsung spinpoint F3 though.

What is the advantage of the Samsung in your opin??

I had originally selected this but thought seagate was better.

Th samsung spinpoint F3 is fast, reliable and relatively cheap.

It's one of the most recommended HDDs on OCN, you can't go wrong with it.

MPE usage really only necessitates a GPU with 96 CUDA cores and 1GB of DDR5 RAM.

Something along the lines of a GTS 450 won't do exceptionally well in the latest games though, so the decision here really just depends on what you're playing...

i think the higher the Open GL the better.
