[EVGA] EVGA rolls out with exclusive Best Buy graphics cards - Page 18

Another reason for the different model numbers is that consumers are comparing RATINGS of electronic devices online more and more. By having a unique model number, all of the drop shipped online purchases that are screwed up in shipping do not skew the ratings of the models that are (presumably) shipped either more carefully or in larger units where they survive shipping more frequently. Just a thought.

-__- I did a bit more research and it appears you're right. Apparently the "at cost" only applies to computers, consoles and Apple. I was thinking most of their TVs were sold at cost too. Guess not.

Apple mandates their pricing on apple stuff. We wouldn't want BBY to sell it for a non reality-distortion-field compliant price, now would we?

If Best buy really goes under I can maybe get me an easy Video Card upgrade.

But I can't see how that could ever happen.

That's not even at cost though, that's at MSRP

My guess is that those items are popular enough that Apple/Sony/MS/Nintendo are able to force Best Buy into selling at their price if they want to carry them.

Believe me or not...

I work at a store similar to Best Buy / Frys. All apple products are marked up exactly .1% from what we pay Apple.

We make money off of all the additions - as well as keeping our customers away from other retailers.

But isn't the reality-distortion-field generator permanently offline now?

Naw, I'm 100% certain they have a patent on it, and are keeping it quite warm.
