[GON] Always-On DRM Confirmed for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - UPDATED! - Page 3

Naw man, just naw. I won't be buying it. Not that much of a lost. With the nice mods for the other 3, I can live without another one. Damn shame though.

Also, fixed

As stated by another person in this thread...anyone with satellite (or other low bandwidth connection), low data caps, or on a laptop while not around wifi would be SOL.

Although this wouldn't effect me personally in any adverse way (I game on a desktop, with cable, and no caps), and I looove Stalker. I'm not buying the game if this sort of DRM stays in on release. DRM hurts people who buy the game, not those who pirate.
I understand, believe me.

Truth is DRM for single player games will never disappear. Those types of games are just so easy to pirate. Heck I'd say there's a high incentive to pirate single player games since there's little to no consequences since you essentially get the full game.

Looks like I'm out. I can't even stand it to just have to have a connection to start up a game. Booooo.

Not really. Look at the people that still play NES, SNES, N64, etc. games. And then look at how many people still go back to playing San Andreas. They do it all for the same nostalgic reason. I doubt this game will be one of those games your friend asks if you still have so you can recall the good times but someone out there will replay this game and be one pissed off person if the game says they can't play it.

This is bull****. We have data caps in America where they make most of their money.

I predict a DOS attack on the servers.

This is going to hurt them more than anything. I was going to buy STALKER 2 until I read about this, they just lost one customer due to this DRM. Congratulations GSC, lets see if we can make this game to be their lowest selling title yet.

By the way, people WILL pirate this game eventually. I guarantee you that people will figure out a way just as they did with the Ubisoft games. No game is safe from determined crackers. To those people this is just another challenge.

All you need is a .dll file to tell the OS to shut down the connection ports when it detects the game running. You know something you distribute quietly in the night.

Let them keep that policy after fielding those calls.

Bahhhhhh, WHY GSC? This is terrifically lame. I wouldn't be able to play it even If I wanted to, unless it turns out to be removed or "fixed" by some other means...

So now some people are forced to either not buy there game, or crack/pirate it. With DRM as insulting as this, I would almost expect piracy of this game to be much higher just to show GSC this is a stupid move and absolutely did not work.

I'm not buying or pirating, I just hope that it gets cracked in a few hours like driver san fransisco did so GSC can see how stupid they are
