HAF 932 + Megahalem/San Ace H1011 Pressure?

Hi all. I'm just finishing up my new PC to be and wanted to see if anyone running something similar can give me an estimate for what kind of airflow pressure I'm looking at here. I know the stock 932 is positive pressure but not too sure after the CPU heatsink setup (fan will be a Pull). Personally I do want positive pressure, however. If it's negative I'm considering throwing a fan on the bottom of my case (932 takes 28mm's on the bottom if I recall right) to tilt the scales, but I haven't ordered my custom cooling stuff yet and would rather pay shipping only once. Thanks! smile.gif

Oh! As a random aside, I'm considering tying the heatsink to the case's top (probably with zip ties) depending on how I feel or if I ever have to move the case (may be moving soon). Is it better to use zip ties across the fan/heatsink body or the heatpipe? I imagine the body. Double thanks.

The CPU HSF wont make a difference to the case pressure. Thats governed by intake and exhaust fans on the case.

I've moved my HAF X around a fair bit and have never had an issue. I owned a megahalems prior to my D14 and its a very solid mounting system. IMO no need add additional Ties to it.

I agree with the latter. The excellent Prolimatech mounting system makes a motherboard sandwich. It doesn't wiggle.

As for the former, look at item 2 in my sig. By coincidence the cpu cooler was a Megahalems. I was able to set up a substantial case exhaust through all of my many open ports just by using the fans on the heatsink.

In general I recommend filtered intake fans with an unfettered exhaust: cut open that rear grill and put no fan on it. Then you add case fans to your taste.

I'm watercooled and thus far I have only been using the side case fan and the front as intakes and its been greath thus far.

Is the custom cooling items going to be for watercooling or are you going all air?

dihartnell and Ehume, thanks for the vote of confidence on the Megahalems' mounting hardware. I know these things are all engineered to work well, but still my sense of physics wants to punch me at times when I look at it. Never messed with aftermarket coolers before so I figure I'll understand better once it's all in my hands. On a humorous note, when I first started fabricating the machine and looked into heatsinks I was contemplating rigging up some steel pieces across the CPU cutout so I could mount the HSF to the case's tray. ><<br />
Ehume, nice setup. I like the idea. I'll keep it in mind. Also thanks for the first item in your signature. It helped a lot when doing my research.

FrostyGPU, I'm not quite ready to make the jump to a WC setup. I've seen some really good looking ones, and honestly wouldn't mind trying it out sometime. For now, though, I'm going all air.

Thanks for the input everyone!

The setup in item 2 of my sig was never a functioning computer. I only set it up that way as an experiment. For my own rig I use five filtered intake fans and no exhaust fans - only an open window out the back.

But you should look at all the items in my sig. They're very educational. I learn a lot myself when I revisit them.
