Steam problem. Can't download/install anything

I am always getting this message, "steam servers are too busy to handle your request... etc" for everything i try to install and update. My internet connection is fine, ive changed my region in the steam settings, deleted blob files, even reinstalled steam!... but i'm still getting that darn message. It's obviously a problem on my end, but what? Any help appreciated thanks.

EDIT: I can't even install games from a disc without getting that message.

how long have you been having this problem? Maybe the steam servers are just too busy to handle your request.

Steam servers are just loaded in your area, it should be fine within a day. I had the same issue before, you can also try setting to different regions.

the only other thing I can think of is your firewall/antivirus maybe?

Also, try going to Settings, and then Log in as different user, then re-log in and see if it works

Did you reinstall steam like this:
  • Exit Steam
  • Go to your steam folder
  • Inside the folder you want to delete everything except for the “steam.exe” and the “steamapps” folder.
  • Double click the steam.exe and it will rebuild the steam folder.
  • When it opens it will ask you to verify your account…put in the code you get from your email.

That has solved a ton of steam issues for me.

steam is allowed through the firewall and the antivirus is not affecting it. Also tried logging in as a different user lol.

i did it a bit differently. i saved my steam apps folder somewhere else, the i uninstalled steam, downloaded it again and ran it, then put my steamapps folder back in. also verified my account with the code they sent me via email.

i will try your way though and see if it makes a difference.

nope still didn't fix it.

Edit: i seem to have fixed the problem. i opened my IP filter and removed any filters even though i hadn't applied any filter at all and haven't ran that program for a while. Steam must have somehow remembered which IP addresses i downloaded from and only let me download from those addresses which is really weird o_O
