In the Middle of a Build - Help with SLI?

Thread Starter
Hey guys!

So, I am attempting to SLI two GTX 580's in my HAF X case. They are installed on an ASRock P67 Extreme 4.

From every video and picture I've seen online, it looks like normally two SLI'd cards are basically touching, inside the case, because of the motherboard. However, in my case, the motherboard actually gives a space between the two (I'm assuming for better air flow).

Yes, I followed the instructions exactly. Yes, they seem to be installed correctly.

However, because of this, both the VGA Bracket and Air Duct from the HAF X do not fit around the cards. I believe they were designed with the idea in mind that the two cards would be much closer together. Mine have about an inch of space between them (please see pictures).

So, here's my question: how worried should I be? Because of the extra space, will they ventilate ok? (there is a fan on the side door of the HAF X, pointed directly at the GPU's). Or did I somehow mess up on what motherboard I should have gotten? How bad is the heat going to be?

Thanks for any/all help!

Just to add, in the manual that came with the GTX 580's, it shows two cards in SLI, and they have the same gap as my cards do. So I feel like it's correct...

Your fine. Just don't forget to install the SLI bridge.

No worries you are good to go.
Bridge power weeeeeeeeeee. You can keep an eye on your top card temps with Afterburner.

I think having the space is better because it will allow the one card to breathe a bit better. When there right next to each other it kind of blocks the intake of the 1st card.
