Hey thanks for chiming in everyone... and yea you make a good point munaim1 pcie 3.0 is definitely something to consider. Also for the price difference Asus P8Z68-V Pro is not really out of the question.

but there's just a lot of stuff there I will probably never get to take advantage of.

Also visiting the change logs is something I never really thought about before and may borrow at work when trying to make a point or sell my boss on something I absolutely "need"

and it makes me sad that gigabyte's getting a bad name, I've had a ton of success with them in the past

EDIT:

Thanks for the breakdown Maniak
on an unrelated note...same emotions about OCZ

I heard about that, Im still deciding what to get lol, since my mobo died it's like asrock7 GEN3 or the m4E, it's a difficult one especially the BIOS maturity thing that I explained before that and the fact that Asus is going to be releasing GEn3 mobo's. I think i'll wait a litttle longer for now I'm switching mobo's like anything lol. Hopefully within the next two weeks we get some idea as to when they'll relase the GEN3 line.

BIOS change logs etc can say a lot, combined with the info that you get in official mobo threads in the forum/s of the issue's/problems that member's are facing with their mobo's, it helps to identify what potential problems there may be and what BIOS fixes should be implemented asap. Don't get me wrong Gigabyte makes amazing mobo's, it's just recently i've not had good experiences with them while other's have.

If it has more tech/features than another mobo and it costs the same or less then it can be a winner, however like I said it does come down to how mature the BIOS is.

It's a tough one to chose between asrock and Asus, their pretty much the same just a different BIOS.

Good luck with which one you chose, both are excellent mobo's.

I have nothing but good to say about the Asrock z68 Fatal1ty Pro Gen3. Its notable advantage over the Extreme4 is a V12+6 power phase, versus the V8+4 power phase in the Extreme4, which should help with overclocking. I reached a 5.0Ghz O/C on this board with relative ease, although I'm not willing to run this O/C on a 24.7 basis as peak temps on LinX loads are a little too high for comfort. See this post

Just a note 8+2 phase is more than enough for overclocking a sandybridge to it's limit, I've seen the P67 Sabretooth overclock a sandy to 5.6ghz.

Sorry I fell asleep on my own thread everyone...also missed MC yesterday due to a surprise visit from my parents

However it still looks like I will be flipping that proverbial coin...

The only real lead ASUS has I guess is that I'm used to working with that board and it is slightly better looking
