Got my Silver Arrow, OCing i5 2500K ;)

So I finally got my Silver Arrow to replace the crappy Kuhler 620 I had. My temps dropped 20c with my current overclock. So now I'm reaching for the magical 5GHz barrier and it seems to be really easy to achieve. Currently I'm running at 5GHz, 1,35V and LinX gets temps to around 80c which is still quite high I think but I don't mind as the CPU won't reach such high temps under normal gaming. I was wondering if the HS on the CPU is curved since I'm getting the following temps for the cores: 69c, 79c, 80c, 75c. Too bad I don't have a razorblade at hand right now frown.gif

How much do you guys need volts to get these monsters to 5GHz? It seems to be stable now at 1,35V and VCCIO at 1,2V but the temps really seem high when compared to the volts I'm giving to it poke.gif

Looks like you got a good chip there, mine is stable at 5ghz at 1.35v and same VCCIO too.

Plenty of voltage headroom left to go above 5ghz biggrin.gif]

edit: and yeah, I went from an arctic freezer 7 pro to a D14 and the temperature difference was orders of magnitude lower.

Don't know about the headroom though :/ 80c under LinX breaks my heart but I think I could always make the switch to Prime95 and reach to the stars biggrin.gif

Yeah, not kidding. I had my chip at 4,5GHz 1,225V before with my Kuhler 620 with two Gentle Typhoons at 1350RPM and temps got up to ~80-85c under LinX. After changing the cooler the temps dropped to around ~60-65c which is HUGE. I'm betting there was something wrong with my 620 though, it should've done better.

Edit: 40min of LinX:
