HW Monitor processor power reading isn't accurate for most CPU's.

The most alarming thing to notice is in Tmonitor is that all cores were only running at 1400.1Mhz,the BIOS update would hopefully fix the idling core issue which obviously makes a huge difference.

The Veyron on the other hand is a technological showcase with a quad-turbo W16 engine that cost hundreds of millions of $$ to develop. Can the Atom go anywhere close to 253 mph? No, it can't even break 160... Besides, if it rains while you're out in your Atom, you're screwed
That's a bad analogy in the first place.
The Veyron didn't cost hundreds of millions to develop and the W16 is just two VW W8's bolted together. The Bugatti Veyron is a top speed racing car, while the Ariel Atom is a purpose built track car, with a very light frame and powerful Honda engine.

Could possibly be powersaving? Never used Tmonitor so I don't know the duration that graph represents.

It just moves along really fast and drops down when idle. Under load it goes up obviously.

Umm, really what instructions doe it use ? Because Intel is hush about it and its one of those benchmarks that Intel consistently outperforms AMD in, which suggest hanky up front.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LINPACK

It also makes heavy use of FP and maybe thanks to Intel Compiler be using the worst possible code paths available.

IF these bench's are real. In fact if the CPU dispatch instructions are not flagging x87 which would be the default, it could have to run allot of this on integer which would completely hose performance.

There is only one group of people who benefit from this type of press, and it sure ain't AMD.

So yet more unconfirmed info on performance i only saw faked nearly a year ago. Glad people on OCN can read photoshop. Are intel supporters really so insecure they have to troll EVERY SINGLE amd post. back when amd was owning intel with its p4 lineup there wasnt nearly the hate.

You of course are probably one of the few people on this board that knows the truth about BD

If it is under load then Tmonitor should show more than 1400Mhz.

I dunno, but Tmonitor's reporting is very quick,so it may show it throttling down.

It most likely was no longer under load when the screenshot was taken. LinX says "Finished without errors in..." meaning LinX has already finished running. On my system, as soon as LinX finishes running the processor is no longer under load.

I agree it was a bad analogy, but the you're wrong about the Veyron not costing hundreds of millions to develop. It's not simply bolting together two 8 cylinder engines together to make the W16. For one thing, the heat dissipation of the 1000HP quad-turbo W16 is so great that the engine has to be exposed and the car needs more than 10 radiators. Tires also did not exist to handle the 250+ mph top speed, so Bugatti worked with Michelin to develop the special tires for the Veyron.

Quote about the Veyron's development costs (from Autoblog):

Quote:
Bugatti is saying that Veyron production started last week, after six years of setbacks and nearly $400 million in investment (an amount not likely to be recovered by selling 300 cars).

you have to remember that AMD had to do a new uarch and a node shrink all at one time, this is very risky and hard to do,even intel avoids this.there very well could have been unforseen issues that arose and couldnt be solved, they pretty much have to release it at that point and iron out any bugs later.just my opinion though.

yep linx is done running and the chip is idling and maybe turboing up to 4.3Ghzduring random windows loads?

I had a hard time interpreting what I saw here, as a complete novice OCer (don't let my time on OCN fool you) but I think these are POOR results and we're looking at- at least another 2 yrs of Intel dominance?
