Looks like they'll get it right Next Gen, or hopefully fix what ever issues they have now, and improve the performance.

ALL year, all signs point to BD having issues. It's a new arch, I'm sure AMD will sort it out. I remember reading an article saying that a new stepping will be out in January, and THAT's the one to wait for.
Yeah, it is a bit weird for me too, lol. It's simple, my avatar just reflects the CPU I currently own... before a Ph II x6 and now a 2600K.

AMD needs gets these issues sorted out over the next year whether that is a new stepping or tweak/fixes in the design that show up in PD. I am very hopeful that AMD will soon get back into the high performance game, but for the time being I am an Intel guy.

On my Phenom II X4 955, I could not get LinX to run correctly with the latest Intel Linpack libraries. Basically most of the cores were idle. Does Bulldozer have the same software incompatibility problem with Intel Linpack?

What issues would those be in particular ?

is it possible that there are still bugs or settings in the bios who could affect the score .. as far as i know .. chew* did say there were settings in bios who could affect performance marginally ... so if those dude didnt have a proper press kit they probably didnt do the testing correctly .. wich could result in lost performance ... or there are still bugs on top of that ... because amd wouldnt have lost all of those years on something so poor

No idea on that last bit, have to wait for BD to get here I guess.

Not for core temps, either (for me at least) one core gets stuck or might be a bit higher all the time, but it's never been that one core is 20c higher than the others on load and equal at idle...And I'd imagine the temperature sensing for cores hasn't changed.

Not really a screw up, a compromise I'd guess considering Linpack isn't a realistic workload.

This could be true...

Whatever issues that caused performance to go from "30-50% better than current products in the same TDP"
(see video @ 2:20 for proof) to what we see in the leaks today. Of course if there is some magic on release day that noticeably boosts performance then I will be happy to rescind my statement.

If true, Pathetic. According to LinX my x6 gets 59gflops.

Linx is not best AMD benchmarking tool. For instance I'm getting 120gflops on 2500k, so its not comparable. Real world testing matters and Phenom is great in those for its price. But Bulldozer, meh, should called it Phenom II x8.

Prediction: Even when BD launches, there will still be speculation.
