I guess AMD did a mistake with this CMT and a more "netburst" design aiming higher clocks, longer pipelines and so on,
at the end this looks a lot worse than Phenom II (in terms of IPC, single threaded performance)...
a Phenom II die shrink to 32nm and maybe some minor tweaks could probably have worked a lot better (llano is almost that, but with a GPU and no l3)!?

I hope that they have learned something useful and that they can improve or use this architecture for something in the future, and that this CPU can enjoy some success at least for rendering and such heavily multi threaded stuff...
So basically, your convinced AMD can't compete with Intel ?

AMD Gpu's are horrible. Every game needs new drivers and has bad image quality. AMD CPU have poor performance and have horrible stock fans and generate a lot of heat and have a reasonable price but overpriced for how they perform.

Maybe, maybe not. What about the Dutch computer magazine article with similar results? You think that's bogus too?

The older versions of CPU-Z also wouldn't display some info correctly for Sandy Bridge when it first came out. It's no big deal...
Dude CPU-Z still can't display my vcore correctly. Except for the very newest beta.

I'm hoping this is either unstable or fake.

Actually, most of the nasa screw up have been cost savings supply chain issues.

Why is there a 14 page thread about another ES chip? We have all seen this before, the ES chips are crap and JF said they would be crap.

End of Story.

I am not going BD in the first wave. I do however have full confidence that the new products are going to perform fine. I will probably go for a 4100 sometime after Christmas, so I am not riding the edge of my seat waiting for BD release so I can plop my $ down for one as you have naively suggested.

My current weak link in my gaming chain is my 4670, which is going to be replaced by a PowerColor AX6790 (not typo) on Monday. The dang Newegg order got to the Phoenix UPS warehouse yesterday at about 11 am, couple hours earlier and I would have it already. I have been eyeballing 6790s (and 6850,6870), and when the 6790 dropped from $140ish a month ago to $89 I went for it. I plan on getting another soon and Crossfire them I might go ahead and grab one now while that $20 promo is still active.

what do you mean?
in terms of pure performance I'm quite convinced since 2006/2007,
I can't see AMD beating sandy bridge-e in the next few months,

in terms of price/performance they can in some situations, the FX 8120 could be interesting against a 2500k in some cases, but single threaded performance looks clearly a lot worse, and considering that both CPUs shouldn't overclock on aircooler much further than 5GHz, the 2500k have more potential for gains with OC, that means that in many cases it can't, IPC is much, much higher on the Intel CPUs, and as I said, single thread performance does matter in MANY cases, and in a lot of other situations 2-4 threads only are used, so BD should be decent when you are fully taking advantage of it's 8 threads, or 8 integer cores, but apart from that, it's not looking good.
