GTX 580 worth it? - Page 2

on ultra...NO... but big question what res. at 1080 60hz it is pretty close.

My buddy has a 570 and he just got another 570 because he wanted a few more FPS and higher settings in BF3 and Rage... he plays @ 1080

Worth it for sure

@ z01o... because I hate when people say that...
You could get a 580 and OC it and the 570 will never touch it... if you are looking for a budget card the 570 is worth it but don't compare like that, just a lol compare
Lol, so true bro. Its like people think a 580 can not oc

Dpending on your resolution, if you are 1080p which is 1920x1080 then, a 570 will not run BF3 on ultra, but it will get around 50 fps on high settings, and i dont know about skyrim. Also two gtx 580 will run ultra in 1080p with about 60-75fps outside and about 80-90fps inside in metro map. As i said, if you are a fan of nvidia, go for gtx 580 , if not, try 2x 6950 unlockable to 6970 verisons.

My single 580 will run at that FPS.

WHen i say ultra , u have to customize setting , do all AA AND AF to max, habo ON , and all settings to ultra , and record with fraps, And restart your game to take effect. I've done about 100 hours of research on youtube, google , and i have a 6990 myself getting about the same fps as 2 580 slis are getting. Please dont mislead him.

GTX 570 is slightly less powerful and has slightly less memory. But it costs much lower.

It is logic because GTX 580 is the "flagship". So yeah unless you want the best single-GPU video card in the world and/or the performance bump a GTX 580 isn't worth it.

Hm thanks, I guess I'll grab a 570 then, and with the money I saved I'll get an ssd.

I'm not.

It's not constant, but my Lightning Xtreme will run the Beta around 60fps and occasionally droop down into the 50's in some scenarios.

And it will spike to like 117 inside the Metro but never drop below 70.

Why the hell would I lie about something like this? I'm not misleading anyone, I was simply saying what my 580 does in-game.

Couldn't go wrong either way you went bud. You'll love the SSD but if you want a recommendation on those I would HIGHLY recommend the Crucial M4, amazing SSD and wicked quick, even better with the .0009 FW upgrade.

Enjoy your new gear man!

Seems like a great idea to me. The loss of graphics power will more than likely be less than your disk drive performance gain. What SSD are you considering?
