I am confused and upset (2) ssd dead in 24hr

I have two intel x25m 40gb that were both up and running fine it seemed, one in my sig rig the other in the Lan rig(both systems are in my sig)

The old Lga775 rig ssd started locking up for lack of a better word, so I ran a chkdsk and I really don't know what happened but I had to reinstall windows 7 64bit. Now this is where it got weird, I installed windows started updating and it froze up again after 4 hours of downloads and such, so since I was already starting fresh I decided that I would try it again (Fresh install) and hold off on updating in mass (multi updates at a time) well when I got to the select disk screen I deleted the 100mb part. and the primary part as well formatted and deleted again (just to make sure it was wiped out) clicked install on that disk and got a error could not install (don't remember the code)

So I took the SSD disk out of the Lga775 rig and installed it on the AMD3+ rig and booted up and got smart error hit f1 to set up, well I bypass it, and get into windows fine open disk manager and did all one would do to wipe all info off the disk. I did not create a new partition just wiped it good (also did this again and second time tried creating a partition each way still got smart error) The smart error is "end to end error" and it fails the read test in Intel's ssd tool box, plus it will not allow security erase (ata security is on) and I have tried power cycling it and all the hints from other posts on Google!

So I figure its dead, buy a new drive and worry about Intel RMA after the holiday, well I got new drive which was sata3 so put that in the AMD3+ rig as it supported sata3 and moved the second X25m 40gb drive to the Lga775 rig well guess what it did the same thing again, well I was sure something was wrong with the board or PSU or something, checked it all out all is well!!! So I am with out a SSD for the Lan rig (aka kids pc) no big deal other than the 200+ bucks in dead drives! Well an friend across the states here with completely different PC and SSD ends up having the same problem today??? OK now that was freaky!!! He got his working for now but I fear his will do what mine did, remember they both lasted for about 4 hours each!

BTW command prompt Chkdsk deleted a butt load of orphan files before the smart error

So what does anyone think? I am baffled, did I and friend just run in to bad luck or is there something that could of caused this????

PS:: Please read it before you answer I tried to put in as much of my actions and things I did. So don't reply with did you try formatting the drive duhh, and run chkdsk? lol

ok your drive is security locked. Happens.

You will need to use Gparted to unlock the drive, then secure erase.

here is some guidance in this thread, post #2 and 5 will tell you all that yoiu need. This *should* fix ya right up

Plus I have googled about everything on this but I guess I suck at looking things up lol, never found anything like this (post #2~5) THANK YOU big time even if it doesn't work Thank you

sometimes these things will lock. Another thing to consider is to try running your utilities in both IDE and SATA mode.

Also, many boards have an IDE mode called either "Compatibility" or "legacy" selecting this when you use IDE and standard utilities that arent working, usually allows them to work.
