Hi guys , im planning on getting a new PC next week and heres what ive chose from newegg , this will be my first build so i would like any feedback.

My main question was about the motherboard , i plan on getting a second 580 later for sli and ive come across 3 different motherboards .

I will play in 1920x1080 and i will probably be OC'ing my processor but not too much since im not sure about cooling.

Here is the full list of components.

HEATSINK : COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 or NOCTUA DH-14 ( was not sure if it was going to block my ram ports depending on which MOBO you guys recommend )

OPTICAL DRIVE : ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

For 2083$ on newegg i think it seems like a good build , any advices ?

Thanks.

$1985 after MIR. (Note the number of GPUs)

I put the 1.5 Gb version because you will only need that much VRAM if you are using multi monitor.

3x4gb? for the ram 1155 is dual channel not sure if you want to get triple channel memory.

I would try to get a better cooler like H80. 212+ is not bad for for a 2K rig its (lol). PSU you dont need 850W. A 650W will do just fine. If you plan to SLI then 850W would be fine. MB the ones you have there are not needed. A p67 Pro would do more then enough.

Well i dont thing you will need the extra features the Z68 offers. If you must then get Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3.

Questions for OP:
What would be your target overclock for 24/7?
if under 5ghz, shop for a cheaper board
Are you sure you want to SLI 580's?
If not, you might be better off getting two 60's or 70s rather than one 580
Will you upgrade to Ivy bridge?

Major Changes:
GPU, MB, Cooler, Case

Case/PSU: Corsair 500R + TX850
CPU/MB: i5 2500k + Gigabyte Z68-UD4
Cooler: Scythe Mugen 3
RAM: Muskin 2x4GB 1600 CL9 1.35v
GPU: EVGA GTX 580 -AR SLI
SSD: Crucial M4 64GB SSD
HDD: 2x1TB Samsung F3 Raid 0
OD: Asus DRW

Total: $1947.88 (and $80 in rebates) link

There's something floating around about larger cases being less effective with air coolers.

If you really want the MSI lightning Extreme, there's a $41 combo deal with the Corsair 850w PSU.

Shop around OP. No hurry. Black Friday is around the corner with Bulldozers and such.

+1 to those that suggested SLI 580 over a 3gb version because at 1080 resolution you will get a lot more performance with two 580s.

You don't need to have Raid 0 for your HDD, you won't be running anything 'speed' wise on it as your SSD is what gives you the speed.

p67 is much better bang for the bux. It will OC as well as z68, and unless you need SSD caching you won't need z68 its useless IMO.

yes its dual channel so just get 2 x 4gb kit.

As for the case look for maybe a mid size case which are cheaper. The Corsair 500R is really good bang for the bux.

TX850 is good. Get that one.

I would go for either H80 or Antec 920 Kulher for the cpu cooler.

As for SSD get the Corsair GT Force, better performance than the M4, but if you do want the M4 its really good one too.
