Memory upgrade on Alienware?

Thread Starter
Im doing a memory upgrade for a friend. He owns an Alienware M17X/788E laptop which comes stock with 4 gb DD3 PC8500. 2 slots are available and each stick is 2 gb. He plans on buying 2x4 and max out the memory to 8gb.

Suggestions on whether any kind of Ram would be better for this particular latop?

This is about a year or two old still running Windows vista

Just some generic GSKill, Corsair, Kingston, or Crucial would work fine.

It depends on his processor. (I'm pretty sure you'll have to stick with the first set of ram.. But Idk what the processor is, so I can't say. When you figure out the processor. Google that exact cpu. For example: I have an i5 2410m, so I'd google 2410m and click on the site that states the specs for the 2410m [It'll be from Intel's website]. Then it says that my 2410m supports up to 8gb of ram at DDR3-1066/1333)

If you have any questions, let me know

Get this if you wanna stick with the same ram speed. (PC8500)

Get this if his processor supports it. (PC10600)
