Which brand is better? Not hardware, but I mean service wise, customer support, etc.

I'm thinking of getting a 6870 so...

either really. I've owned both, and RMA'd with both.

(sapphire 6870, and XFX 4870)

XFX has a lot of haters arround here though....kinda gets stupid.

They are both good but I prefer Sapphire. XFX tried to deny me once for dust caused by their manufacturing. One call to my AG fixed that up.

All companies will have GOOD and BAD products at some point, and People that LOVE/HATE their brand. I've owned a couple XFX cards ... a GeForce 9800GT that took a dump 1 day after it's 1 year warranty expired, and an HD-5770 that's been running fine for a little over 2 years now ... and now I own my first Sapphire card in the HD-6950 TOXIC edition. I also owned a BFG GeForce 8600GT that also took a dump 1 day after it's 1 year warranty expired. So maybe it's not XFX stuff that's bad and it was just the nVidia cards that were crap

Anyways, I will say this though, as a Business owner (Owned a small Roofing/Construction Company) Warranties should tell you something ... you can either buy a QUALITY product that has a legit Warranty that should last about as long as you would expect to know IF you have a GOOD product or not ... or you can buy a cheaper product that has a GIMMICK warranty that says Guaranteed for LIFE, yet has enough 'limitations' that allow the manufacturer to virtually get out of ANY warranty claim should it want to.

What do I mean ? XFX's Gimmick LIFETIME LIMITED Warranty tells me they've had enough issue's and complaints over the years that they had to offer this GIMMICK as a way to either attract or keep customers feeling all warm and fuzzy even though they produce a somewhat inferior product when compared to their competition.

The only companies that offer up legit LIFETIME Warranties, don't put many if ANY Limitations on it, and they thus usually can charge a premium for it. Look at something like SNAP-ON tools, they cost an arm and a leg ... but you know once you buy one it's the LAST one of them you have to buy. Then compare that to some cheap Made in Taiwan brand that claims Lifetime warranty ... they may offer it, but they are relying on the volume of sales they can make off it before they go out of business, or the fact you'll say "oh that stuff was so cheap, I don't want another replacement" and never force them to honor that warranty.

Not saying I'd never buy an XFX product again, but I think you need to do your research and really know what it is you're getting for your money before you spend it.
