For best results a ~$400 build with split retailers, and grabbing the OS at DiscountMountain, may be your best choice. May also be able to get a student discount somewhere.
You're only 16? please disregard my upper comment.

Why not just get this cpu..
and this ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231193
and this psu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139027
please don't buy cheap power supplies they tend to be noisy and fail a lot trust me.
but that motherboard is AWESOME gigabyte makes great products.
you can try this open box motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813130290R
I had one of those it's pretty nice and stable

or this
it's a very good deal / combo what ever you want to call it
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.728868
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.644166
+ your gtx 460
that i5 2500k is super overclock-able it's like a guaranteed 4.5ghz on stock HSF
get the i5 2500k + the gtx 460 you wont regret it the i5 2500k is an extremely powerful cpu. it is over your budget but hey it's a very good cpu.
I would get the intel build simply because the CPU is far superior in speeds architecture and gaming and a lot more overclockable it has a better PSU CPU Case a Motherboard which supports 6.0gbps SATA connections the HDD is 6.0gbps and you just can't go wrong!

This is true to a degree. Also I would not get that PSU instead I would go for one of these:

They are cheap and are good unit's.

Dude, i use a card as LOW END as GT 430, it can run Battlefield 3 on 1600x900 on most settings low, you could hit medium with a better setup
