I'm still having too much fun with my PRO 550 (Unampped) to want to try these, even though I've heard they're better.

I get the feeling I'll try these if I ever get into music making, which would not be for a while.

yeah who would buy headphones costing more than 50$ (puts on ATH-ad700)

I was looking for basshead headphones lately to complete my ad700

but I'll buy the FA-011 first just because of their price and the awesome look they have.

I think these headphones are nice, but of course like with anything price is still a concern for many. Especially in this economy. It is hard to buy top end everything. Think about it $1500 30" Dell IPS, $150 Mechanical Keyboard (not even Topre price), $350 headphones, $200 sound card, and so on.... not to mention the gear heads who buy it all new every year...

I will tell you what I hate. The people on OCN and other niche groups who hate people who spend less on a product that works just fine for them. Or even those who hate on Apple. Apple can be expensive, but to some people it is worth it, esp. if they are not that savvy and get viruses often. Of course people also have other priorities and things they spend their money on. So to each their own.

Back on track.... if I had the money, I would love to own a pair of these cans, but my 555's will have to do with my Xonar Essence ST. I don't honestly know how much better it would sound. And by that I mean does triple the cost mean it will perform 3 times better? Personally I like bang for buck.

This is what Overclock.net is for DEALS so that the normal middle class people which is everyone. Can out of their own personal limitations go a little bit beyond and step it up.

No one is making anyone pay money for the "gear head" products.
Just like no one is making my girlfriend purchase her 2000 dollar purse she got in new york. Which by the way look great on her but I Digress and disagree. ( actually i think its the media and her other girlfriends who has influenced that buy).

In all retrospect these are borderline best bang for the buck in the "hi-fi" category mid-fi/lowfi cans exist.

I spent 1100 on my Dell U3011, and OCN found me a deal for $650 dollar ZR30W ( THATS RIGHT!). OCN taught me how to rip off Fry's Electronics on my Mechanical Keyboard (Razer Black Widow Ultimate $60) Score a 179msrp 120street price Sound card for $47.

If I had the money I would of caved on GTX 580 Tri/quad.

I already own these (my first headphones costing over $100), and would highly recommend them for the price. Although I have been using them for a few months now with onboard sound (really want an amplifier).
