Ok so when I got this psu a few years ago there were some 8 pin cards, but most were 6 or 6+6 and since I was using a 6 at the time and wanted less clutter I started trimming some non modular cables.

Fast forward to now... My 460 hawk 6+6 is in RMA so I decided to go with a 6950/6970 6+8pin and I want to know if I can just jumper a couple of the grounds from my 6 pin connectors to make an 8 pin. I know some of the converters just jumper, and some require 2-6 pin for one 8. But am I losing power by just running a single? (that said I do realize specs for 6 vs 8 pins are 75w and 145w respectively but they both run off the same rail/location if that matters)

PSU is Enermax Galaxy DxX 850w

Edit: as a clarification I do still have the original 8 pin and wire so I can rewire inside of psu if needed, but for simplicity I would rather not if its not needed.
