Tenkeyless Advice - Ducky vs Leopold

Thread Starter
so I finally have the cash put together for my first REAL quality tenkeyless mechanical... going Cherry Browns because the wife wont tolerate the Blues.

That being said, I have a lead on a slightly used Leopold Otaku for $80 shipped or I can get the OCN Ducky tenkeyless for $80 plus like $15 for shipping. I would have to get some colored keys for the Leopold, just for some pizzazz so consider the prices nearly a wash.

how do they compare in quality, key durability (and shine), etc.?

thanks in advance.

For TKL build quality it goes Filco > Leopold > Ducky.

Duckys have some quality issues in their 10xx (tkl) series which they are suppose to be bringing up to par with their 9008s (108) in their next OCN run. Not sure when they will be available yet so you will have to wait. It's rumored to release when the Shine's release at the end of the month.

As for Leopold, for the most part they are very close to the quality of Filcos which are generally viewed as the best. The only thing that slightly differs is the stabilizers used in Leopolds which some people argue are too mushy. But in terms of price difference, Leopolds are usually a better buy because they are so much cheaper and not that different. Build quality is still very good and you shouldn't have any problems with a Leopold.

Hope that helps!

I'd definitely pick a Leopold over a Ducky if those were my choices.

thanks for the info. I have been drooling over Leopolds for some time now, just because they appear to be near the quality of Filco... but without the inflated price tag.

and at $80 shipped, it is pretty tough to beat. now to find an affordable tenkeyless size leather wrist rest, affordable being the primary concern.

+Rep and thanks for the quick responses

Leopold is a really good tenkeyless board. The only reason it is looked down upon is because of the quality from Filco. Leopold is priced reasonably though.

go with filco which is $140 on amazon which is worthy. otherwise leopold if you could live with cherry stabilizers. i am not a fan of ducky. at $80, used leopold definitely beats ducky.

Ducks are my favorite animals and Leopold(the king) is a major prick.

I'd go with a Ducky. tongue.gif

If I were you i'd take other peoples' advice though.

$80 Leopold made more sense than the $140 Filco... especially since the money came from trades/sales of stuff I already had.

budget plays a huge role when you got kids... in every decision
