Building a new rig! All help is appreciated - Page 2

Any other suggestions? The posts have been really helpful so far. I am wondering one thing. Does an OC really affect the performance by a substantial amount? For example, if the 2500k was oc'ed to 4ghz would I notice a significant difference in gaming or general usage?

You'll notice a decent FPS gain. It's really easy to OC with Sandy Bridge. You could probably get away with just tweaking the multiplier to get a 4ghz OC.

Really? I'm actually going to notice it? How does the rest of the build look?

You will notice a considerable difference with a mild overclock (4.0-4.5). There is great literature on the topic, especially with that motherboard. Check out the Asus P8P67/P8Z68 thread for some simple OC writeups and general overview about the capabilities of the OC and CPU.

The rest of the build looks pretty good. The M4 is reliable for an OS drive.

No sir, you will not see a "decent" gain you will see a minimal gain in FPS. The Turbo is already set at 3.7, so going from there to 4.0 is not that massive of a gain. You would have to push it to 4.4-4.8 ghz to see a decent gain
