How to remove distortion from recorded audio?

I was at a couple of concerts during the summer and I took some videos, but I forgot my camcorder at home, so I had to use my crappy HTC Desire HD camera, which has a horrible microphone. Anyway, anytime that the bassist played the bass there is severe distortion in the video. I still have the original MP4 on my hard drive.

Is there anyway to get rid of the distortion of make it less distorted?

Short answer. You cant.
Long answer You could use an eq to remove the offending frequencies but its garbage in garbage out if it was bad to start it will always be bad.
