just a bump to let people know ive made SOME progress lol

so im in the bios now(typing this up on my laptop) but i cant find the NB multiplier

i can only see stuff about the NB in 2 places: Ai tweaker, and Advanced.

in Ai tweaker i see this layout:

cpu over clocking [manual]
OC from CPU level up [auto]
CPU ratio [ auto]
CPU/HT Reference clock (MHz) [200]
PCIE frequency [100]
DRAM frequency [ auto]
CPU/NB frequency [ 1800 MHz]
HT link speed [auto]
GPU booster [ enabled]
Enhanced iGPU speedstep [auto]
GPU power saving mode [disabled]

OC tuner utility,

the rest from that section is just voltage meters, though it does allow me to change the voltage for CPU/NB, CPU/NB offset voltage, and NB voltage.

in advanced:

i see 2 underneath Northbridge configuration menus ->
DRAM Controller configuration
ECC Configuration

none in those 2 options do i see anything about a multiplier, unless i dont know what to look for.

i read online that some mobos dont let you change your NB multiplier? could mine be one of them? i thought this would be a good mobo though, since i paid about 100 - 120ish for it

anyone know where to go from here?

AMD sucks.

My X4 is killing me. Crossfire 6950 2GIG cards are dropping to 30FPS in BF3 @ High detail.

CPU is 100% constant.

GPUs are 60% ~ 10% either way.

Even at 4.4GHz it can't deal with the situation. My mates i5/GTX580 combo is simply sublime and eats BF3 like you wouldn't believe.

Makes me sad. Need BD and all we can do is hope that will help...

i didnt think it was so bad when i first got the cpu....i guess i should have spent more to get a better cpu to handle my graphics ^^

ok so i decided to post some images of what ive been seeing,

this is after i oc my cpu to 3.8 GHz, and set the CPU/NB frequency in my bios to 2400 MHz

heres crysis:

the witcher 2:

i it seems to have gotten better, but as of right now i dont know what i should do for my cpu anymore

after changing the cpu/nb, its become much more spiky, so i dont know what going on now

Your CPU/NB frequency should set to either auto or at least 2000. This will ensure it's using the highest multiplier. Then you need to increase your CPU/HT reference clock up from 200. With your reference clock at 200 and your CPU/NB set to 2000 or auto, the CPU/NB should have a multiplier of 10x so the NB speed would be 2000. If you up the reference clock to 225 the NB speed will be 2250. What you want to do is get the NB up to around 2500, which would mean a reference clock of 250. You will have to adjust your CPU ratio to keep the overall processor speed from getting to high, so it would be best to just leave it at stock or lower until you get a stable reference clock. Then start upping the CPU ratio multiplier to get the final speed of your processor. If you keep your CPU ratio at default for the 955 that would be 16x. So 16 times 250 (reference clock) would give you a final total processor speed of 4000 MHz. You may or may not be stable so you should probably lower the multiplier while you're increasing the reference clock.

As for what I colored in red, when you change the reference clock the speeds of your DRAM and HT Link will also increase. So you have to lower the multiplier to keep them in check.

And through all of this you may have to change your CPU or CPU/NB voltages.

Now I do believe Crossfire puts an even bigger overhead on the processor than a single video card would, so more performance you can squeeze out of it the better.

^ The 955 is a black edition, the NB multiplier can be changed upwards... if that option is absolutely not available (a BIOS update may unlock it if it is not) then the ref clock would be the best option.
If this is an AM2 board the option may be locked out because of...

i'm using Phenom II x4 925 on 3.4GHz with GTX 460 1gb i'm playing BF3 on maximum with 52-71 fps range.. depend on area the lowest fps was 52... i'm using the new nvidia drivers..
================================================== ==
Your 955 can't bottleneck you in 1920x1080 / 1920x1200 even with quadfire.
but you are using low res 1280x768 ... it will bottleneck HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
you need atleast 4GHz OC and 2.6-2.8 to NB to kill that bottleneck.

ive heard that using lower resolution will tax the cpu more, so i did try BF3 at highest resolution to see if it would work... nope =[ i got even worse fps =[

also tried on crysis (highest resolution was 1660*900), and got to the 40 fps without moving and like 15-25 with action going on.
