Hey guys,

As much as I dislike Apple, I'm still considering picking up the iPhone 4S.

Here's why..

I just renewed a 3 year contract with Rogers, I'm only 2 weeks into my contract, when I do a Hardware Upgrade it will automatically renew the contract, but not likely my credits. ( I have a lot of them )

So I don't want the credits to expire too far apart from when my contract ends in 3 years. Rogers is painful to deal with, and yes, I'm planning that far ahead, 'cuz it won't be easy to get the same contract I have now renewed. Took a month of negotiating just to get what I have.

Next, I'm wondering when the Nexus Prime will come to Canada, and if Rogers is going to get it for subsidized pricing, or if I'm going to have to buy it outright.

Which is why I'm considering grabbing the iPhone 4S now, since the resell value will always be there ( we know how Apple fans are ), in case I sell it to grab the prime later.

The 16GB 4S will be $159 + tax, pretty sure I can get the $35 fee waived, besides it is a good phone afterall.

And then, my final decision ( dilemma ) lies in grabbing the Blackberry 9810 now, since it's $35 ( activation fee ) + tax. Not sure how good the resell value on those would be though.

Oh yeah, I'm getting a Blackberry Curve 8900 for FREE this week to hold me over, once I get it unlocked, since it was an AT&T version.

If you read this far, what would you do?

Soooo tempting

I'd go for the iPhone for now if you're strapped for time. Exactly what I'm doing. I'm in the US on Verizon, and there is no LTE in my area. I'll grab the iPhone now and when LTE is launched in my area, the 4S will easily sell enough for me to upgrade at around $150-$200.

Yeah, that makes sense for you though. You KNOW the Prime is coming to Verizon.

It's not certain whether Rogers is going to get it. They did get the Nexus S, but I don't remember exactly when they got it.

When the Galaxy S2 came to Canada, Rogers didn't get it right away, while Bell has had it for months. It's finally on pre-order now, which is the LTE version, but it's still not clear when it'll be available.

I wish the Prime was being unveiled on Tuesday.

True, however I'm still most likely sticking with the 4S. Love Android but there is two things right now about the Prime that concern me.

1. LTE is a battery hog right now, doesn't matter which phone because the 1st GEN LTE chips are not that great.

2. Prime is most likely rocking a OMAP 4, many rumors now saying it's OMAP 4430 instead of 4460 like it was suppose to be.

Qualcomm's new 28NM Krait dual cores are coming the first half of 2012, they will bring much faster processors then OMAP 4's, as well as built onto the die Radio's including the 2nd GEN LTE radio. This kills two birds with one stone for me. I'll grab the iPhone now, and then grab one of these when they're released. The chips are pretty "future proof" I'd say as competitors won't have chips to compete until the end of 2012, and they most likely won't blow Krait out of the water.

You're right grabbing the 4S makes sense, and the resell value will always be there. Samsung will have 32nm chips as well with 30% power savings. Man I wish the announcement was still set for Tuesday, so we'd know real specs.

Thanks for the feedback, will rep ALL tomorrow. The rep system doesn't work on the iPod. I wonder if Siri will take care of it better?

btw, do you think the 4S will be easily jail broken?

iPhone 4S. Even if Rogers never gets the Prime for subsidized pricing, the resale value on Apple's products is insane and will likely pay for your Prime.

Looks like the GSM Prime won't be LTE. As for the jailbreak, it'll probably happen within a month or two. They already have iOS 5 in general jailbroken, as well as the iPad 2. It also looks like it took rogers about 4 months to get the Nexus S. So I'd get the 4S and enjoy it till the Prime comes out to take a look. Or maybe get the SGS2.

Grab the iPhone 4S, it's really your best bet. Even if the Nexus Prime comes out in Canada, it will be later than the US release. Following the trend with the Nexus phones, chances are it will be a few months from the US release till it hits Canada. Grab the iPhone, and if the Nexus Prime turns out to be a phone you want, sell the iPhone since it has such a high resale value and grab the Nexus Prime.

Oh and dont even bother thinking about the BlackBerry
