Looking for a specific USB cable

Thread Starter
With the release of the BF3 beta I have been trying to use my old joystick to fly with. However, the cable is damaged...

I have dismantled the joystick and have found the break to be near the connector inside the joystick.

I was wondering if there is any sort of replacement cables available on the net? The connector is white and has 5 pins, with two ridges along the top - So it is not a standard USB motherboard header. Obviously with a USB A male connector on the other end.

Or, does anyone know if the connector can be pulled apart like a molex cable, and then I could shorten the cable and move the prongs onto a good section of wire?? I have already tried to pull a little on each wire, but maybe a more precise tug will release it

its a shielded usb cable
both blacks are ground

you can get a standard usb cable from monoprice for cheap

cut off the ends and crimp or solder them together

to remove the pins on the plastic connector, lift on the small fingers then tug on the wires

Okay,

The connector seems to be set on pretty well so I've ordered some heatshrink tubing so I can just trim out the suspect area and solder together the wire. If that doesn't work I'll try it with a new cable or play with the connector more.

Thanks,
David.
