the d-14 price is so high might as well buy the h100.

the 212+ should not even be in the comparison. although it will cool both your wallet and cpu.

h100>d14>>>>>>212+ applies to cost.

The H100 has two fans that run at 2600 rpm. Compare that with the D14 and Silver Arrow that have fans at 1300 rpm.

H100 basically needs fans twice the speed to barely edge out the D14 in cooling performance. Generally speaking, more fan rpm mean a lot more noise.

They will all perform better than a stock cooler obviously. So just get the one that looks better to you.

When I was building my rig..the d14 was oos so I got the V8. Its huge..probably same size as the d14. For My next bulid I'm going to go with a h60 or something.

It probably doesnt cool as good..but I just think it looks simple and clean..

So do you think the H100 is worth it for the little difference it makes?

I would get the H100 over the fact that it isn't huge and there's no weight hanging off of your motherboard.

For me, no. I rather have more quietness for 1C worse performance.

Some people do not like huge heatsinks, but that does not bother me. I never had a motherboard or CPU socket damaged by a large heatsink. Also, you do not have to worry about the inevitable death of the water pump. D14 and similar heatsinks can even cool CPU's fairly well passively if the fans should die.

imo..get the best cooling you can..if you plan on high overclocks especially..the sandy bridge cpus heat up exponentially when you start applying higher voltages..i.e.1.46+..so in this case..i'd say h100

this is a matter of preference apparently. So if you like the look of either one, pick that one. Performance wise they're only 1-2C apart at stock fans.
