The beta was DX10 pretty much. No DX11 features were shown, and some settings were locked at medium/high.
Textures were locked at medium res.
Shadows were High at best

First off, the community manager states the recommendation specs are for MEDIUM, when they are actually for HIGH;

allidoiswinwinwin.png

Second, once you think about it, the recommended graphics card for BF3 is the 560 Ti. Now a single GTX 580 is nearly twice the performance of a 560 Ti. Just think logically, why would you need two of something that is two times as powerful as the recommended, which is just one setting lower, to play this game maxed?

Doesn't seem right to me. I think one 580 should be running Ultra, but two would be good for getting really high FPS and at really high outputs.

Thoughts?

ALSO THE BETA DOESNT INCLUDE THE REAL ULTRA OF BF3

Everyone's standard when it comes to framerate is different. Also, people play at all kinds of resolutions.

For example, I play at 1080p and anything below ~ 60-70 FPS is distracting to me. So I have my own set of needs. Someone who finds 30 FPS acceptable and plays at a different resolution will have a very different set of needs.

I don't know why developers bother putting out minimum and recommended specs. Now take into account that they're probably recommending lower specs than you actually need so more people will buy the game, and you quickly conclude that it's BS.

What's the point of ever improving the graphics of any game with this mindset?

For high res gaming you will need dual gtx580's. check this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-Y3PwbmMcc[/ame] single 580 in beta. I know the drivers are not optimized and blablabla. But don't expect 20 - 30% better performance with another driver. Besides that this is the beta which:

1) Doesn't include all the Ultra settings, high-res textures and other dx11 features.
2) Operation bull****ro is less demanding then caspian border, so fps there is worse.

It is also a matter of your own standards. Serious I cannot play with 30-40 fps avg. I need 50-60 so in really heavy firefights I don't have a handicap over my opponent.

The graphics will be slightly better but not groundbreaking. However it's not an assumption but a fact that the beta is lacking some graphical eye candy, it's a fact which is confirmed by Daniel Matros. Look it up on twitter for yourself.

They will be better.

For PS3 and Xbox - the retail box comes with 2 cd's. The game CD, and a "enhanced" graphics installation disc, since the consoles cannot flow enough data, if you want the intense graphics, you must install them to the consoles HD with the second disc.

That is also straight from DICE.

and to me, the PC and Console Beta looked the same... (and I have a gtx 590 and blah blah blah)
