If this is really true for thermal grace in Ivy I am shamed to be Ivy owner. This is such poorly, such patetic, such miserable from Intel and I don't know what to say. I hope this is not true and I still don't belive in that story.
People open CPU like sandwich and make grace like butter to correct errors of Intel and they silent like b***ch and make problem to people trying to save few thousands dollars maybe 0.5$ per CPU with cheaper material.
If this is true this is worse than bad architecture because this in people souls. And Intel soul is dirty if it's true.
What kind of company??? Yes AMD is cripple but this is porrly on human way.
This is new symbol of Intel, this movement to use cheaper material on last techology which help people in many things. Always in future talk about this if it's true because this is Intel mentality 0.5$ saving on last most exspensive technology. In future people will laugh when remember how they open CPU like fish because negligence of Intel.

How to cooling CPU, You need knife, stone and processor and peanu tbutter for better performance than original thermal interface.

Dude, this is not the RANT section. This has nothing to do with the thermal heat transfer, it's all about nm. The Vid was restarted.

More speculation?

Hardly looks like speculation to me rolleyes.gif Brings me back to the Opteron OC days when lot's of us were "pulling the lids" (IHS') to signifigantly improve thermal management/overclocks.

Why NOT? Especially if Intel is using inferior TIM ... Not to mention why they no longer use fluxless solder!!! I don't buy the 22nm process as being the sole culprit in IB's overall heat disappation problems vs Sandy Bridge ... to many reputable people agree ...

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/proof_%E2%80%93_switch_fluxless_solder_thermal_paste_cause_poor_ivy_bridge_overclocking_temperatures

W.ASUS may be ranting a bit ... BUT does anyone honestly disagree???
Proof will come when Intel releases another "Extreme" line with the return of "Fluxless Solder"
and starts charging $1000 bucks for the privaledge to enjoy what Sandy Bridge gives us NOW!
We may never see the likes of Sandy Bridge (performance/$$$) again, ... and I sure enjoyed the ride thumb.gif

I think you are misreading something here. Using an IHS will always increase thermal resistance, but your argument refuting this is off subject.

Well, looking it up...
Quote:
A heat spreader is most often simply a copper plate, having high thermal conductivity. Functionally, it is a heat exchanger that moves heat between a heat source and a secondary heat exchanger whose surface area and geometry are more favorable. By definition, the heat is "spread out", such that the secondary heat exchanger increases the heat capacity of the assembly. These properties make it a better match for an air heat exchanger, since the low heat conduction for air in convection is matched with higher surface area.
