Both are very tempting :

Do we have any more info on any possible 38xxK series? I won't have a need and the money for a hexcore. I'm planning my future upgrade and budget for R4E
post #334 of 1172
I really hope they will announce at least a price range, for the IB.

Wow, reading this thread makes me itch to upgrade. I just bought my i5 760 last year 2010 when is first came out, I didnt have much budget then and it was the most practical CPU for gaming but the purpose of this build is just so I can play pc games at that time. So its been a year, skipping SB era for sure that was my original plan.

Now its time to upgrade, but this time its for the purpose of future proofing. Now which platform is good for this? Now I dont know if I should just wait for IB or just go for SB-E, it seems SB-E is power hungry and my power supply may not be sufficient at all. BTW will IB be considered enthusiast level since its an 1155 socket? Since people say 1155 is aimed for modest users and 2011 for enthusiast.

What boggles me tho is how you guys have had your perception warped so effectively by brand marketing. what has turned practical minds into suckers for vanity?
I live in the now.. go argue with other people dumber than yourself.

Of course, the track-oriented Ferrari Enzo FXX could be quite a bit lighter than the Enzo. And it was, dispensing with air conditioning, airbags, sound insulation, and other road-car necessities. Ferrari quoted a dry weight of 2547 pounds, 220 less than the Enzo, but Siminaitis calculated a startling 510-pound advantage in curb weight (2720 versus 3230), this despite the addition of built-in racing-style pneumatic jacks. When all was done, the Ferrari Enzo FXX boasted a weight-to-power ratio of just 3.4 pounds/hp versus 5.0 for Enzo and 5.8 for the roadgoing Porsche Carrera GT.
Brand marketing has nothing to do with making a product for better performance. Just like the above Ferrari... If YOU think it a stupid investment.. then your obviously not the guy that would ever be driving one around a track
