Z77 mainboards just arrived at my place some days ago and my wallet is ready for a new computer so I'm really confused

Before I was planning getting 2500k +P8Z68V-Gen3 but with the new Z77 I'm wondering about switching Z68 Gen3 to P8Z77-V ?

Z77 is about ~70$ more than Z68 Gen3. Does it worth it?

/And yes,I will upgrade to i5 Ivy later. I'm just worry about the Z77 mobos.

Tbh, 10-15% performance difference and native pcie3.0 support is not worth it imo. 22nm is a big difference yes but from early samples, ib doesn't seem to keep up with the hype. I'm really happy with my 2700k + Asus Maximus Gene-Z/Gen3 purchase. smile.gif

And yes, 2600k is better but we had a sale that 2700k price was @ 2600k, so i said wth and grabbed it tongue.gif

Its not just the performance realistically...people that don't know much about performance or pc's in general thinks it's "cooler" to have the latest and "best" technology. Whether or not its the best bang for the buck. Just something else to think about. Oh MicroCenter has $50 off when you buy 2500k and motherboard together. So a Asus P8Z68-V LX is only $69 when you buy with a $179 2500K.

I hope $500 can get a Ivy and motherboard that's equal to an i7 2700K combo. Would like to take advantage of PCIe 3.0 if I can.

Anyone have any time line on release yet?

I'm debating whether to ditch Z68 and grab a Z77 but it doesn't seem like there are many reasons to upgrade. Is there any truth to the performance benefit of having Z77 with Ivy Bridge instead of Z68? Besides native USB 3.0 and PCIE 3.0 I don't see how it would make any difference. The improvements are all on the CPU.

Exactly, like Nocturin said "NO" biggrin.gif And you can have native PCIe Gen 3.0 support with a Z68 board just by switching the cpu to a Ivy one.
