@ two cables and munaim

im kind of leaning towards ivy bridge myself just on the simple fact that it will be the much cheaper option, although i would love an enthusiast rig (never had one before) just don't think i could physically part with more then £400-£500 just for a CPU seeing as my sig rig doesn't cost much more then that, so that kinda rules out SB-E for me.
We shall see though, seriously doubt i will be able to fight the temptation of SB-e smile.gif

oh btw wanted to ask if a few things i have heard are known to be true or very likely.
is it true that ivy bridge will have some 6core Cpus? and will there be a Ivy bridge Extreme (like what they are doing with SB)

Possibly, however it is too early to tell, Haswell could be 6Core ivy, but not sure. IVY-E is probably going to be available in the 2011 socket, however knowing intel, they might just have a different socket for it all together, but again this is too eary to tell.

Be willing to wager a lot that Ivy Bridge E will be on 2011. Now Haswell-E is another story but that's a long way off

Yeah, I think so too, I bet Haswell will be a new socket too.

Any chance haswell would decrease in pin size by a substantial margin?

I don't know atm, we can only wait to see. I have seen that Haswell may have the southbridge integrated into it though for mobile versions.

I'm going to be getting whatever Ivy Bridge model replaces the 2500k. I've no need for hyperthreading, nor do I want 6 cores. Just your standard top-shelf quad-core with nice overclocking capacity.

Has anyone seen any motherboards that feature both 8 ram dimms and enough space for 4 dual slot graphic cards? I browsed around all the boards that I know of and haven't seen a single one to tote both features...seems silly to me.
