Error scan is finished. It does give me an error though

Anyway to save that sector?

Happy to help.

As I said in an above post:
chkdsk /R e:

That will tell NTFS to ignore that bad sector on E: (if it isn't already ignored) and use a different one. It won't cure it. HDTune will still detect it. (as HDTune checks the drive surface rather than the filesystem)

If it's REALLY annoying you, you can pick up a copy of SpinRite. It can apparently "cure" such bad sectors. (it remaps them beneath the OS level - in firmware or something) If you get any more they will show up, but that one will effectively be gone.

Will chkdsk perform a full surface scan before it goes for the repair? Because those scan sure take a lot of time. If i re-format the disk, will it use the same method to mask that bad sector?

Maybe I'll try this SpinRite you're mentioning. IS there any downside for me trying it?

Yes, and yes. (Full format does the same check - Quick format does not.)

Do you know if you can boot it from CD instead of using the DISKETTE? Have you used it? Is it level 5 the one that cures as you say bad sectors? It is called Restore good sectors and on the owners guide it says.
Code:
Level 5 - Restore good sectors - This level performs the same data
recovery and analysis functions as level 4 however it will also
RETURN regions of the drive which had previously been marked bad
to full use, BUT ONLY IF the sectors pass all of the deepest tests
perfectly.
