FULL (front and back) coverage really make a difference?

Thread Starter
I'm looking for GPU blocks and I'm seeing EVGA covers both front to back but their results were less than stellar compared to all the other blocks http://skinneelabs.com/gtx480-full-c...ock-roundup/6/

All the other blocks seem to not include a plate that covers the back side. Am I wrong?

I might consider getting the EK block (specifically: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12...l=g30c311s1351 )

and does it really make a difference if there is a cover on the back or not?

The backplate is not required, and doesnt effect performance.. but it offers some support to the PCB as blocks are very heavy. It also looks good too.

Backplates are just for cleaner/fancy looks. But they do look nice!

some backplates are made in a way that they passively cool back of cards (if the ram modules are on the back). they also provide more stabilization as blocks may warp cards.
