So I am having a few problems with some external HDD. First thing is first, all this is done on Windows 7. My friend is trying to get some data off an old HDD from his laptop and I thought I could help by using a docking station. Well when I plug it in it tells me my device is ready to use. But it doesn't show up in My Computer. So I went to Disk Management and see that it says it needs to be initialized. Either initialization types MBR or GPT I choose it comes up with an error window that says "Disk Is not Ready". And I can't do anything. I have tried all my USB ports and see no problem with the ports in Device Manager. This happens to multiple HDDs. As far as Disk Management I see : Disk 1 Unknown Not Initialized(with a down arrow), and where there is suppose to be a white box on the right, it is greyed out. Please, ANY help will be much appreciated.
