850w or 1000w/1kw PSU? For OCing of CPU and GPUs

Hey guys,

So I just finished my build the other day,and now I am wondering if I should send back my PSU or not, in exchange for a 1000w one instead.

-I am planning on OCing my i5-2500k
-Currently have a 570 (Classified OC Edition); getting the second one around Christmas.
-64GB SSD with a 1TB HDD.

Now with overclocking and watercooling on the way, would it be better if I upgrade my PSU or is the 850w sufficient for this sort of build.

Regards,
David

P.S Any recommended 1kw PSUs would be greatly appreciated, if that's the case.

850W is plenty as long as it is of good quality. Which one is it?

You could run sli 570's + 2500k (heavily overclocked) + watercooling on a quality 750 watt psu. Notice I said quality. Seasonic, antec, corsair etc. 850 is overkill. 1000 watt would be plenty for tri sli.

You could power your current rig with a seasonic x-650 with no worries. Or a similar quality brand. Don't ever get your power requirements from someone who's trying to sell you something. The results will be greatly exaggerated.

Alright sweet. I currently have a Cooler Master Silent Pro or w/e. But since the cables are too short for my 800D, I'm thinkin' about makin' a run out to CompUSA and grab the Corsair HX850w, or HX750W. The price difference between the two is $20, so would be worth it to just grab the 850w?

If you have a Silent Pro M 850W:

then that's not bad at all. Save yourself the money and just buy cable extensions of whatever sort you might need, e.g.

Neither, your PSU is solid, just buy extensions.

But if you do want a new one, get this, is internally identical to the OCZ ZX 850 and is a helluva deal.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations!
I ended up going with what Sin and mikeaj said, and kept my CM Silent Pro and decided to buy some pre-sleeved extensions.
This build is going to be sexy and it knows it.

Thanks again everyone!
