Backup up a specific folder only when files added to it

Ok, I have one folder on my computer that I want to back up. The folder is about 1.15TB in size and always increasing as I'm always adding files to it. I have a 2TB external hard drive thats main purpose is to back up this folder but what I want to know is that if there is a way to automatically add the files that I add to this folder, to the backup folder on the external hard drive? If not, what is the easiest way to create a weekly backup without the entire folder being written to the drive each week, and just the new files being added. Thanks in advance
