Acer Aspire 8943G Second HDD Cover

Thread Starter
So my girlfriend has an Acer Aspire 8943G 18.4 notebook and we're trying to set it up so we can place an SDD in the first HDD bay and the second 750GB HDD in the second bay. However, we'll have to purchase a new HDD cover for the second drive because Acer of America doesn't sell them. >_>

I've heard Europe sells them and perhaps a few other places, but I don't have anything concrete. One of the big points of this computer was to have two HDDs when she got it, but without being able to find somewhere to buy the second HDD cover, it's useless.

So, has anyone faced this problem or know where I could purchase one? Purchasing it form the US would be nice, but we wouldn't care if it's internationally purchased and shipped. Thanks!

On my Aspire 65xx I had the same issue: the second hard drive slot didn't have a cage. The thing is I just fit a HDD in and added a piece of plastic that wedged between the HDD and the outed laptop cover; it works because the HDD location isn't much larger than the HDD itself and the plastic bit is absolutely sufficient to keep it very steady in place. Aside from the mechanical support I don't think a cage has any use (e-m shielding maybe?) so as long as you can pack the HDD tightly you can skip the cage altogether.

I have an 8943G myself but not yet changed any hard drives (5400RPM sucks), but i really should. There's a few on ebay i believe.
