Noise coming from front Audio ports

Thread Starter
There is a noise coming from my front panel audio jack. I am guessing that it is some kind of electrical interference. Whenever the HDD activity light is ON, the sound seems to go away, or at least get much quieter. I looked online, and i was a recommendation to wrap the front panel audio wire in alum. foil, and re-wrap in insulator(I used electrical tape). That barley helped, if at all. How can I fix my problem? I have it hooked up to the front panel header on my Auzentech prelude, so I dont think thats the problem.

halp???

yeah... its interference from other components, try re routing the header cable and shielding both the cable and the front panel. this seems to have varying degrees of success to what is unfortunately a common problem with antec cases.

Whats the best way to shield the front panel? Its kinda crammed in the top of the case where I cant access it. And is Aluminum foil adequate for shielding?
I would think aluminium foil would be the best way, I think what your really trying to do is create a faraday cage around the panel. It may also be worth grounding the shielding (tho im not sure on this but its certainly something i would try if all else fails).

I have the whole wire surrounded in aluminum foil and electrical tape. I took some tape off in one spot, and then I connected the aluminum foil to the case in attempt to ground the wire. no success.

Then im afraid you have me at a loss... im sure there are peeps better qualified than me to help you out, but in the mean time can you not use the connections on the back? not ideal I know, but at least you will have clean sound and some kinda extension cable could make things neater and less hassle.
