Games crash constantly?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I just recently got another 580 Lightning for SLI and since I got it I have had nothing but problems. I have reinstalled drivers at least 5 times, using driver sweeper each time. Any game that utilizes SLI crashes. The screen just turns black and normally I'm not able to do anything, so I have to power off the computer. Occasionally an error message pops up, here's what it says.

Any ideas? I have already tried each GPU in seperately and they work without errors, so it could either be a mobo problem or maybe just something to do with sli? Also I have downloaded the newest directx and nothing.

Are you running any gpu monitoring software, GPU-z freaks my 580 out like that.

But tbh mate that error looks like a game fault, does it to it in any real games?

All I run is MSI Afterburner and even with it off it still does that. The only games I have played are BC2, BF3, and crysis 2 and minecraft. Minecraft is the only game that it doesn't do it on, and I think its because it doesn't support SLI.

Maybe Uninstall all NVIDIA drivers/software & then go to Device manager & uninstalling the cards from display adapters & then go to the Action tab & Scan for hardware changes or restart the PC & let windows install VGA drivers first & then reinstalling the NVIDIA Driver might help?

Okay well I just did what KEX said and it seems to be working fine so far. I ran 3dmark11 and it finished the benchmark, last time I tried it it crashed. I'll try to play some bf3 later and see if it crashes. Anyone else have any other ideas if it's not fixed?

Good to hear, so far so good, & the only other suggestion i can give ATM is, after uninstalling the NVIDIA driver, to manually remove all NVIDIA folders from your system/showing hidden folders & clean up your Registry for NVIDIA Folders/Values, & reinstall everthing again.

+ you might already know? but i prefere to Temp disable antivirus & install new NVIDIA drivers from the desktop.

& i understand Driversweeper will do most of the work for you, but i guess it's not needed unless you having issues.

You have got 2x nice cards, & this sort of thing shouldn't be happening.

Yes that does sound frustrating, have you also tryed the beta driver = http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-wi...ta-driver.html
for BF3 & Rage.

Or remove all drivers/NVIDIA/System/device manager/Registry
shut down & remove the cards & then reinstall the cards & restart
+ ?maybe go back stock bios for a bit, untill it's stable.
