Well, crossing my fingers that STALKER will be safe from crappy DRM. I'd hate to see the series hindered by some silly DRM scheme

Make the right choice, GSC. Put the DRM down and step away from it.
I'm glad to see them staying close to the community. Hopefully, due to the negative feedback, they will avoid the always-online DRM.

I still have high hopes for STALKER 2. I love the STALKER series.

*edit* I noticed this tweet on their twitter.

Quote:
@radactivelobstr Modding is extremely important to us and the community. We would ultimately like to keep it that way, of course.
For those worried about them going a different route.

I really hope they don't go with the online DRM. I would certainly buy it on release, I'm sure many other people would too.

I love STALKER and will buy STALKER 2 on day one. It's just one of the few games that still has the "Plays like a PC game!" feel. Everything about it is PC and nothing about it feels like a console game. Metro 2033 also had the same PC game feel to it.
Put all the DRM on it. I love STALKER and nothing will prevent me from buying it again. Screw all the haters.

We're not hating the series. Just the profoundly stupid idea of tacking on a crappy DRM.

It seems they're taking our voices seriously by the article. Hopefully they'll listen. I'll buy the game either way but having DRM isn't going to sit well with me. If they decide to go the DRM route, I won't pay full price for the game at all. I'll wait until it goes on sale in the bargain bin.

They should go with the good old serial key+online verification. This is the most effective and it keeps it simple and easy to use. Assassins Creed II was good but the DRM made it the worst game I have ever played on the PC next to DNF. I had finished the entire game up to the end scene and the game crashed and it had not saved since the 3rd level because of my unreliable internet connection. I then cussed the game out and left the room.
