You should be able to move your irreplaceable files to another drive while you format and start over.

This.

Almost everything that you want to keep should be able to be moved to another drive.

Does this Hewlett Packard system have two hard drives? I mean all you need to do is format one drive right?

It will be faster once you have given this computer a fresh start. Using a fancy hard drive setup won't be necessary.

I am referring to the Programs and Features control panel of this Hewlett Packard system. I'm trying to find out how many programs are installed.

Still, we can either do a fresh start, or spend several hours or a couple of days trying to fix this. You have more than one hard drive, so I think it'll be much easier and faster to move irreplaceable data to the secondary hard drive, format the main one, start fresh, and then keep it simple this time around. It sounds like you have loads and loads of things installed too.

That's good because now you have a safe place to put everything while you format and start over.

If you know what you want to keep, then I think we can help you make sure you get everything put onto the secondary hard drive for safe keeping while you format and start over.

DOwnload CCleaner.
Run it.
After it runs, goto startup and uncheck anything you don't want starting.
Run the registry cleaner, get rid of everything that is causing problems.

Problem solved.

I can 95% that this will work. I actually had 68GB (yes thats right, GB) worth of cleanup I had to do. It took me like 7 months to get there... but 68GB. It took my sigrig ~2.5 mins to load, and when I cleaned it it loads in 45 seconds. Lol
OP, for the love of god do this. It takes a total of 15 minutes to do everything on the list. AFter the first thing you should already experience significant improvement. The most important thing after that is the startup tab.

Please do this. Everyone else is almost there, but do this and (unless you have a bad harddrive which it doesn't look like ) you will be good to go.
