It doesn't have the best screen, CPU, GPU, Camera (F or B), smallest size, etc. Its been completely beaten, and the iPhone 4S wont help them at all.

GG Apple.
Uh, no. This phone only has a slightly higher DPI and a better CPU over the 4S. Who has the better GPU, camera, video, and everything else can't be said until reviews and benchmarks come out. Although, I do expect the GPU in the 4S to win. Nonetheless, this is a pretty impressive looking phone. I'd like to see something this size on an iPhone. I like big screens, personally.

it's in korean, but a couple of pictures down you will see benches, it gets 18Mb down/6Mb up, so roughly 2.3 MB down / 0.75MB up.

EDIT: i don't expect the build quality to be anything special, from what i have seen from their previous vega models. their phones always have had pretty good specs, but their android customization is meh and their phones are always very plasticky - kind of like the GS/GSII.
Ah okay, thanks for that.

Once the experience of the OS is perfectly smooth (no lag, stutters, etc.) then what's the point? It looks good on paper, but does the consumer benefit from it much?

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just curious why.

A few reasons really for processor speed:

Firstly the screen resolution is pretty beefy, similar to a high end tablet I believe. So you are going to need a more powerful CPU & GPU to have a smooth experience with higher resolution.

Finally, the faster the processor the faster apps will load, etc. No phone is instantaneous so I can't see why you would say "1ghz is good enough" phones will continue to get faster and faster, especially as screen resolutions continue to grow.

I suppose you've got a point with apps loading faster and such. I'm just thinking of the iPad 2 and how smooth it is, I don't see what even doubling the processor speed on it could do.

You're on OCN, and you can't see a need for better specs?

Hm.

That's not what I said. I'm just curious why a phone would need such a powerful processor. And I was thinking in the regard of smoothness, and snappiness.

After my experience(s) and the experiences of others I know with Pantech, I would take this if it was free.

except it'll be worse... pantech's track record with their android phones means that their rom will be poorly optimized and the build quality will not be very good.

although it seems from the screens that they have in fact changed their ui, i guess we won't really know how well it takes advantage of its specs right now.
