Build gaming rig now or wait till amd 7000 series is launched?

Thread Starter
Right now, I am planning to build a gaming rig that is crossfire enabled. Problem is should I wait for the 7000 series with has 28nm transistors or should I build it now? I do not need one so urgently and I am willing to wait but will the new series offer a much better performance gain since it is manufactured/fabricated in the 28nm?

I think the new 7000 series are due some time in the first half of next year. You could wait and use whatever you have now or you could go ahead and build the PC and put a lower cost GPU in it for the time being. Most people struggle to wait.

I have no real idea how much better the next generation will be but typically i have noticed around 20-30% improvement with my last 3 upgrades.

I plan on TRYING and I really mean TRYING to wait for the 7k series before I upgrade. But the way my 4870 plays BF3 and the on set of Batman AC, Skyrim, and ME 3 is going to make it hard to not play. So at that point I have a choice. Don't get those games till I get a GPU or play the on a 4870 on low.

The smart thing to do is wait for the 7k to come out and see the benches. Great thing about that is not only will you know how well they perform, but if they end up sucking, the 6k series will have a price drop by then

I'm kinda in the same boat, personally, im gonna wait till PCI E 3.0 AND the 7000 series to take full advantage. Also, to make matters worse, word from samsung is we might be getting DDR4 desktop memory by 2012 too.

what i want to know is that honestly whats the price to performance ratio going to be. is a 600$ card thats a little better than a gtx570 gonna come out -___- just cuz it can run eyefinity or something? are the low end 7000's gonna perform better than the 6950 and not be over 300 bucks? thats what no one is mentioning and made me get the upgrade now

You should easily figure it out yourself! It gives about twice the real! Making the top card better at GPGPU would probably cost some speed. What clock and at what price we cant know, but at lest 10% more I would guess.
