Need new game while waiting for BF3/Skyrim - Page 3

Mass Effect 1 & 2 for sure, Just Cause 2 is great if you want to burn some time free roaming and blowing stuff up. I'm still working on Borderlands but so far its been pretty fun.

I hate how im on the fence, if I didn't read people slagging the game off I would have got this day one. I still am just tempted to buy it tonight, im not fussed if the story isn't as good as half life 2, just want a nice feeling shooter with a bit of a story.
Just get it, the best game of the year for me so far, and I doubt Skyrim will beat it for me... And not because "It looks good" or teh' weapons are cool... (well the absolutely are, but you get the point) The game play... The overall design of the game is seriously near PERFECT. From the soft start, letting you get a hold of the controls, the setting, getting the feel of the environment and your enemies, and then once you have enough gear and weapons it throws you into the deepest, darkest, most hellish places with **** to blow up and enemies to slay with your weapon of choice (whether its steel tipped crossbow bolts, to your decked out, ghetto, scavenged, absolute "str8t pwn4ge", assault rifle, or... my favorite... the combat shotgun/wingblade combo).

It leads you in, one mission at a time from the main story and it kind of brings you along to your major upgrades, and major unlocks, and then their is countless small games within the game (racing, 5-fingers-of-death, the collectable card game which is pretty sweet, and some more racing.), exploring, bandit killing on the wastelands in your decked out vehicle, and "the job board(s)". It gives you unlocks at the perfect times throughout the story line to keep you gripped and hooked throughout the game and there is DEFINITELY not a dull moment! From dark alleyways, to bright open wasteland, their is a suprise in every corner.

Great game! And I DEFINITELY reccommend it to anyone, despite to everyone hating on it because of bugs... I cant believe small bugs like slight screen tear and minor texture popping "if you scroll too fast", really almost killed this game... It is a shame, because overall, the game was very well developed and the developing studio spent a lot of time and put a lot of effort into making it such a great game (and i say this as a fellow game developer), they really put their all into this game (yes there shouldnt be bugs like there is now, but it happens, deal with it... BFBC2 wasnt this polished when it first came out.. neither was BF2, or TF2, or WoW), but with some patches, it will be a game to remember 2011 by.

Happy hunting! I always love looking for the next game to dive into, and RAGE, was an excellent choice for me, so I thought I would spread the word

RAGE! I never had any problems with it downloaded from Steam never had to do any tweaking only had to change my mouse sensitivity ; ) locked 60fps no texture pop ins no glitching,
Really awesome game imo there are a few things in the game with low textures here and there like the tins of food/paint on shelves other than that its gorgeous its small flaws are nothing to cry about best Fps i played since Bioshock2.
Other games well worth a play Mass effect + Mass effect 2.

Great to hear! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did I will probably be replaying it when I get the time lol, because my first play through wasn't as thorough as I would have liked...

And yes... My philosophy is "I would way rather have a great game with bugs here and there, than a bad game that is completely polished and ready to go, because with a simple patch or two you can fix the bugs in the great game and come out with winner, but you cant patch a terrible game and expect it to get better."

A good game is a good game at the core, not the outer shell with the bugs, a good game makes you want to go back and keep playing and when your not playing you think about it... And RAGE did just that for me

Enjoy

I'm actually getting a bit excited to play this now, i've been so bummed about it the last week or so but i know a lot of it is just whining, bugs aren't the end of the world

Awesome gents, thanks again.

I finished my first playthrough today, and I thought it was an AMAZING game, a bit too short though, BUT because it was so amazing, I have started another playthrough.

So pretty much I finished it and am happily playing through the game all over again, straight after finishing it. Thats how awesome it is

As for the bugs, just download a custom config file and youl be good to go if you have problems at the start!

I was very excited for rage at first, but then my excitement died down a bit, and then once it got released I was like HOLY COW THIS IS AWESOME! I thought it was just going to be something to help pass the time until BF3, but it was MUCH more then that, this is an amazing game in its own right!

Even with the low res textures the graphics as well, they are just stunning, amazing atmosphere!
