I remember when 6800GT was a great card. - Page 4

From a GeForce 4 MX to GeForce 6800!? Wow, that's quite a jump. I went from a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 to my GeForce 6800 GS AGP, and considering my GeForce 4 Ti 4200 itself was quite the increase over the GeForce 4 MX 440 it replaced (which itself wowed me a little), I can only imagine.

if I had a lot of money, I want to build a bunch of modern day replicas of old rigs I had.

my favorite would definitely be my Biostar TForce 939 build. It was a mATX board in a gaudy blinding orange and and blue with intergrated graphics that cost under $70 ... and did 350FSB 24/7 when everyone was bragging about their $150 DFI LanPartys hitting 300FSB biggrin.gif

Haha, it came in a prebuilt Comcrap.. paq I got as a gift. I wasn't even a PC gamer at the time. But a friend introduced me to Half Life and Team Fortress... and then the flood gates were opened!

I played TFC hardcore... at 800x600 with default settings biggrin.gif

I remember upgrading my cleron 266 (No l2 cache!) from 32 to 96 Mb RAM and feeling it fly.

I remember replacing my Rage IIc 4MB card with a Voodoo Banshee 8Mb and being amazed - that card is still runng BTW now in a 733MHZ PIII rig.

I remember my FX5200 64bit because I only replaced it two years ago, bought it before the 5 series where recognised to be crap and just had to put up with it.

My first computer for gaming(for bf42) was an athlon xp 2600 from some computershop packed with a whopping fx5200 128mb. Eventually I saved up some money and bought a used 6600gt, ran BF2 at 1024x768 I think. The card's still going in an office pc wih an athlon 64 nowadays.

I gave my 6800GT away some time ago. But I remember it well, it stuck with me a long time (2004-2006). It struggled a bit with Oblivion, otherwise it worked quite well in most later games.
