Thread Starter
G'day, I need some help choosing a mobo for my computer, it needs to support
1. AMD3/AMD3+
2. 2 way crossfirex (im planning on putting 2x xfx 6950's in it)
3.16gb of ram (at least)
4.RAID0

i just want the best value mobo, but if i dont like that one im going to get an ASUS CrosshairV-Formula 990FX AM3 (is this a good choice?)

any suggestions on other upgrades are welcome

(if it helps)
i plan on installing
Phenom II x6 1100t
2 ssd's (through RAID0)
16GB of ram
1Tb hdd
2x Sata dvd burners (maybe bluray if i have the cash after)
2x (crossfired) xfx 6950
running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I like the motherboard I'm using. The ASRock 990FX Extreme4 looks pretty good too for value and features.

I agree it sounds like the UD3 is a pretty nice MB, as long as you don't mind some slight vdroop. And I also agree that the ASRock Extreme4 looks like a good choice as well. I just setup an ASRock Fatality 990FX Pro. It setup with no problems at all, and appears to perform very well. It has a 12+2 VRM compared to the competitions 8+2 VRM, and gets great product reviews. If your budget permits it I would look at it. Otherwise, I'm sure you will be happy with either of the two mentioned.

I love my new Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, amazing board with some great feature's. I was trying to choose between the sabertooth and the UD3. I am very happy with my choice! Also I think the UD3/5/7 are wicked sexy looking....I dont understand why more mobo's dont look this nice!

EDIT: so far from my understanding(and experience) the UD3 has no Vdroop. Its the UD5 and 7 That had that issue. further more the Vdroop was only bad with the 6 core phenom II's, the 4 core's had less of an issue.
