crashing problems with 560ti?

Thread Starter
so i recently got a new rig with an msi geforce 560 ti twin frozr ii. i had all the recent drivers and etc...

(this is without having overclocked anything)

once in a while (maybe once or twice a day) my screen will black out for a couple of seconds, then return with a notice in the bottom right hand corner saying "nvidia driver xxx.xx has crashed and successfully recovered" or something along those lines.

now, when playing games (Age of Conan and BF3 Beta more specifically) it will run fine for half an hour, an hour, sometimes even up to 3 hours, but then all of the sudden the screen will freeze, the sound will freeze (loop) and the only thing i can do is physically restart my pc.

i tried all the recent nvidia drivers, stable or beta, clean installs, makes no difference.

can someone help me out here? what am i missing?

use 266 or 275 drivers, i had the same issue with the 28x.xx drivers

iirc i downgraded to either one or both of them before, the problem still occurred. might try to downgrade to 266, but i think some games won't run with older drivers.

anyway, if anyone that had these problems and managed to fix them, help me out. i know this problem isn't uncommon.

Your GPU is factory OC'ed, right? What are the core clock speed and the voltage? It might be possible that your GPU isn't getting enough volts for the factory OC. Probably unlikely, but it's worth checking out smile.gif

factory clock is 880 MHz and factory voltage is 1.037V.
If it makes any difference, my PSU is 650W.

anyway, i DID try overclocking the gpu yesterday and it still ended up crashing after 20 mins of gaming, although i can't tell if it's because of the persisting problem or an unstable overclock. anyway, set it back to factory clock now.

anyone? :/

I have the same card and my factory clocks are 880 but my factory volts are 0.987. Everything stable here with driver 280.26. Is the card new?

^^ yeah. my entire rig is brand new, assembled a month ago.
my stock voltage is 1.037V... and i have the 280.26 drivers atm. i haven't had the "driver crashed and recovered" issue in a fair bit but i'm sure that if i play a game it will crash eventually...
