I was worried too then I saw that it just slips right in biggrin.gif

to begin with, you can lower vcore and qpi/dram voltage, set your bclk frequency, set your multi, turn off power saving features in cpu configuration section, turn on/off turbo (i disabled it for a more stable overclock), turn ht on/off, i leave it off for most of the days, only turn it back on when i do cfd simulation.

for just stock, i'm using...
vcore: 1.05v
qpi/dram: 1.225v
dram bus (memory): 1.59v

What about for a small overclock, like 3.4 Ghz? Or are my temperatures too high for that?

The difference between a couple hundred MHz is minimal at best. I recommend getting a better cooler first.

So with a Rasa RS360, what Ghz would I be able to get my CPU to?

my temps. just did a few runs coz i am off to work. i've done longer runs before, obviously, and did not see my temps past 70C.

I hit 4.3 accidentally biggrin.gif I was trying to find new ways to get to 4GHz and I forgot to turn off HT. lol

for a 3.4 overclock, your 212+ should do absolutely fine, i mean as long as you don't bench 24/7, you're not gonna reach 80+'c just by browsing the web or using ms office. even during gameplay, i doubt at 3.4ghz your cpu temps will even go over 60'c.

i mean give it a try, if temps shoots up, then back down to stock, there is no harm in trying, and by all means getting a 950 to 3.4 is hardly overclocking considering by default the chip can run at 3.2!

3.4ghz is an annoying clock speed because with that speed you either have to run your ddr3s at more than 100mhz below or almost 200mhz above your their rated speed of 1600mhz...you will see what i mean when you play with memory multi in bios...

you could try this...not guaranteed to work as i said before chips are different, you have to fine tune (up or down) the voltages to suit your setup
bclk: 148
multi: x23
turbo mode (tm): off

memory multi: 10 (you can try set to 12 but no guarantee your modules will run without errors...i'd say leave it on 10 and go lower on your timings, ie if your timings are 9-9-9-27, you can maybe go 8-8-8-24 or something like that, you have to mess about with it to get the timings as low as possible)

vcore: 1.15v
qpi/dram: 1.25v
dram bus: 1.65 (mine is rated at 1.65, set yours to rated volts as well)

OK thanks. I will try that.

When I overclock the RAM, would the heat sinks on the fan be enough or should I get a cooler for them as well?

nah, rams are quite robust, they will either work or not work, temperature will rarely be of an issue, not before you run into stability problems at least, and of course don't use ridiculously high volts wink.gif i stick to my previous suggestion, leave the multi on 10, and lower the timings

of course, good case airflow always help, and i think your haf x will provide you just that, so i don't think you will need extra fans just for your ram sticks smile.gif
