Also, does the DA still track best at its highest DPI? I remember reading something on esreality years ago where the maximum perfect tracking speed was significantly lower on the lower DPI settings.
I used the latest Deathadder Black Edition firmware in my tests and the latest firmware for the 3G. These tests were done about a month ago. Here were the lift-off distance results:

Lift-off distance

Method: Rest one CD below both front skates and one below the back.

Each CD is approximately 1.2mm.

Deathadder 3G V2: Tracks at 1 CD, will NOT track at 2 CDs
Deathadder 3G V3: Tracks at 2 CDs, will NOT track at 3 CDs.
Deathadder 3.5G: Tracks at 3 CDs, will NOT track at 4CDs.

All deathadders, regardless of variety track best at 1,800 dpi.

The black edition comes with great mouseskates. I'd definitely check them out before you buy any hyperglides. If you're satisfied with them (which I was) then you shouldn't need to upgrade. They're way thicker than the grey skates on the regular deathadders.

Mousepads, that's up to your personal preference. Haiyaa is big on artisan mousepads. Send him a PM

is the goliathus control or speed better for the DA?
i also doubt that the DA is bad on cloth pads, it is, same as on hard pads

I've read about jitter issues on cloth pads (i read them on various forums regarding deathadders and these are two i googled quickly here and here)
and one of the says "NOT Compatible with Razer 3G/3.5g"

Those links you gave are pretty lame. The first one is to some dudes blog that says the DeathAdder has a crappy sensor, which instantly discredits him as it's easily one of the best senors available. The second link is to some unanswered question from a guy that says he heard it had problems, hardly conclusive. The KAI.g2 is the only Artisan pad that has issues with DA tracking

The DeathAdder has no jitter on Goliathus Control, Goliathus Speed, or Artisan Hien Soft. I use all 3 and haven't had any tracking issues with either of my DeathAdders.

Depends on what you like. The speed edition has more glide, the control edition has a lot more texture/feedback.

While I can't comment for the 3.5G/BE sensor, both my 3G V2 and 3G V3 work great on my Steelseries QCK+. Dirty as **** or freshly cleaned. I have no jitters or tracking issues whatsoever.

Actually, the 3.5g does have some jitter on certain cloth pads. There is a firmware fix that bandaids the problem but in the end, razer had the great modern sensor and flushed it down the toilet so they could put "3500" dpi on their box. I wish they'd use the proprietary 3g they just sit on or let someone else use it. >_>

I will say the 3.5g is still a pretty good sensor, though.

Having used all, I recommend the Black Edition like the entire surface much more
post #20 of 20
I have a 3G and like someone already said, the surface does attract a lot of grime. It's perfect besides this flaw. You can get it off using a pin in a few minutes though.
